Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Welcome to the our website. Bostwick United Methodist Church was established in 1905 and is the home of a warm, thriving congregation. We are located in beautiful Bostwick Ga., and in the midst of the cotton fields and pastures of Morgan County. We hope you find our new website helpful and easy to use.
.
Have you noticed the construction going on around our annex building? That's the white building attached to our beautiful fellowship hall.
The building is quiet old, I'm not sure just how old, but at one time it was a two room school house. We have several people in our congregation who went to school in it back in those days. I won't call any names, and they aren't quiet as old as the building, but they have some neat stories about the building.
When the county was through with the building they sold it to BUMC for $1.00. It was moved to a location just behind our church building and converted to a small fellowship hall, complete with kitchen. When the plans were made to build our current fellowship hall it was move again to its present location.
The construction includes replacing all the old windows in the building, replacing all the vinyl siding, and insulating the structure. It currently houses the pastor's office, a nice library, a youth Sunday school class and a work/storage room.
The work being done on this building shows something very important about our church. Bostwick UMC does a wonderful job of remembering and honoring our heritage without getting stuck there. We still have the old building, but it is being maintained well and being put to good use. Bostwick is a congregation that knows where its roots are and knows where it is going. If you haven't visited with us yet, come go with us.
When you have the opportunity, drop by for a tour. I love visitors and I love to show off our beautiful church.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Doug
